Happy New Year Parents, Teachers and Students-

 

This is the beginning of an exciting year for our students, especially our Seniors.  They are about to begin a new phase in their lives.  Many changes are looming on the horizon:  the inauguration of our new President, the selection of a new school superintendent, possible boundary changes impacting our school, and more cuts to the overall school budget.

 

The PTSO started this school year with a very ambitious plan.  We decided to focus on communication, school spirit and parent, teacher participation in PTSO activities.  In August we produced a newsletter and soon after this website came online with even more information.  This year the PTSO participated in every homecoming activity starting with preliminary planning in the summer of 2008.  The PTSO has implemented a Puma Points Program for students and parents to help with classroom participation, increased homework completion, parent awareness and teacher participation.

 

The PTSO still needs many volunteers as we continue to focus on the above items.  We are about to embark on new initiatives:  HSA awareness, fundraising and starting business partnerships.  We need parent, teacher and student volunteers to help with these initiatives.  If you have free time or just the willingness to make a difference in a child’s life; contact us through email at: wiseptso@yahoo.com.

 

As always, if time permits, all parents, guardians, teachers and students are welcome to attend our monthly PTSO meetings.  They are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.**  If you are not already a member, please consider joining at our next meeting.  The cost of membership for adults is $10.00 and for students $6.00.

**NOTE:  The PTSO General meeting this month (January 2009) is changed to Tuesday, January 27th because of the Presidential inauguration.  The location of the meeting may change to a lecture hall, depending on facility availability.  Meeting announcements will always include the location.
